Halloween Horror Nights 2022 Dates Announced
Single Night Tickets and Dates have been released.
Universal Orlando loves to keep us in suspense with this iconic event and the announcements will trickle in through the entire year keeping me on the edge of my seat.
Halloween Horror Nights (HHN) is a separate ticketed event that occurs on select evenings during the Halloween season. Important: This event is not covered by the general theme park admission ticket, a separate ticket is required. You are not required to purchase a general admission ticket AND a HHN ticket to attend. With that being said, there is some more important information you need to know before planning.
What days are HHN happening and which park is it held in?
Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Orlando starts September 2 and will run through October 31, 2022 on the select nights.
It seems all but one, will be held Wednesday through Sunday with the exception of Tuesday, Oct. 31 which will be have an HHN event.

What time does HHN start?
The Halloween Horror Nights event begins at 6:30 pm and closing times vary. Prices vary by date and are subject to availability and to change without notice. Prices are higher at the front gate. Event occurs rain or shine. No rain checks, returns or refunds.
Are any rides open during Halloween Horror Nights?
Even though most of the focus is on the horror, there’s usually 6 – 8 rides that remain open during the event. These are the rides that are typically open during HHN:
- Revenge of the Mummy
- Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit
- Men in Black Alien Attack
- TRANSFORMERS: The Ride 3D
- Fast & Furious: Supercharged
- Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts
- The Simpsons Ride (open only on select event nights)
These rides generally have a lower wait time during HHN vs. regular park hours. These rides normally close a couple of hours before HHN closes. Regular Express passes are not valid for these rides during HHN but in my experience, I’ve never seen these rides hit above 25 minutes while HHN is happening.

If you were to go to Universal’s theme parks any time of the year, you always have the option to purchase the Express Pass that allows you to skip the regular standby queue for rides and attractions, saving you a ton of time. The Halloween Horror Night Express Pass works the exact same way except you get to skip the standby queue line for the haunted houses in addition to the rides that are open during HHN. If you purchase regular Express Passes for your general day admission ticket, it will not work for HHN events. Just like ticket entry, you must purchase a separate Halloween Horror Night Express Pass in order to skip the regular standby lines for houses plus rides. This comes in handy for out-of-towners who only have one or two nights to attend the event.
- The Halloween Horror Nights Express Pass entitles one (1) guest one (1) time express ride access for a specific event date during the Halloween Horror Nights event. The 3-Haunted House Unmasking the Horror Tour Ticket entitles one (1) guest: a guided informational walking tour of three (3) haunted houses, and the chance to photograph select rooms in select haunted houses, at the discretion of Universal Orlando Resort VIP Tours. Unmasking the Horror Tours are daytime, lights-on tours of select haunted houses. - The 6-Haunted House Unmasking the Horror Tour Ticket entitles one (1) guest: a guided informational walking tour of six (6) haunted houses, and the chance to photograph select rooms in select haunted houses, at the discretion of Universal Orlando Resort VIP Tours. Unmasking the Horror Tours are daytime, lights-on tours of select haunted houses. Tours last up to 5 hours for 6 house tours, with groups consisting of no more than 12 guests and will include multiple parties in the same group. Vacation Package Offers
If you were to go to Universal’s theme parks any time of the year, you always have the option to purchase the Express Pass that allows you to skip the regular standby queue for rides and attractions, saving you a ton of time. The Halloween Horror Night Express Pass works the exact same way except you get to skip the standby queue line for the haunted houses in addition to the rides that are open during HHN. If you purchase regular Express Passes for your general day admission ticket, it will not work for HHN events. Just like ticket entry, you must purchase a separate Halloween Horror Night Express Pass in order to skip the regular standby lines for houses plus rides. This comes in handy for out-of-towners who only have one or two nights to attend the event.

Behind the Screams: Unmasking the Horror Tour
This was a tour offered during the day before an HHN event. It was a walk though of the haunted houses with the lights-on. HHN tickets were not required to purchase this tour but reservations did have to be made in advance Guests could choose a 3 or 6 house tour during the day. Depending on the number of houses you chose, the tour could last from 2.5 all the way up to 5 hours. Groups consist of up to 12 guests and each guest received a special HHN token. Behind the Screams tours could begin as early as 10:30am and available on most days.
The Repository VR experience
I’ve heard that this will NOT be returning in 2020 and I believe, was only available in 2016. But just in case, for $49.99 (2016) guests could have an interactive paranormal experience by being apart of an investigation team, you would enter a “centuries old” warehouse and discover artifacts that have be stored for many years. This experience was around for a few years and I honestly don’t know why it hasn’t returned. Although I don’t know too much on this, I never heard any terrible about this add-on. It seemed like a really cool idea and it’s good example of how Universal is always trying new things to keep you wanting more.
Dining Experiences
The Scareactor Dining Experience was an exclusive offer for guests with HHN admission. Scareactor Dining was held at Universal Studio’s Classic Monsters Cafe and included an all-you-can-eat buffet, photo-ops with scareactors with one free digital download. Last year’s scareactors that visited your table were:

- Igor
- Shorty (Killer Clowns from Outer Space)
HHN Dining Plan (Quick Service)
Guests who have purchased the Universal Dining Plan can use their credits during regular park admission hours and during Halloween Horror Nights to try exclusive HHN food, snacks and beverages(the pizza fries are a must!) 2019 offered a beverage plan where you received an exclusive Halloween Horror Night souvenir cup and unlimited freestyle refills for $15.99 plus tax.
